Adnan Menderes Airport Opens Domestic Terminal

Constructed by the TAV Group, a world leader in airport construction and airport operation services, the new domestic terminal of Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport is now open.

Following the bidding by the State Airports Authority (DHMI) on December 17, 2011, TAV Ege, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, won the rights to operate the Domestic Terminal until 2032 at a cost of 610 million Euros + VAT. The new structure completed by TAV Construction has an indoor area of approximately 200,000 square meters. Key features of the terminal include 64 check-in counters, 40 lifts, 30 escalators, 666 meters of pedestrian conveyor belts, the capacity to handle 5,000 items of baggage per hour and a total construction area of 291,267 square meters.

Portline will also provide services in the new domestic terminal and continue to connect brands with targeted consumers.

A number of important political and industry figures attended the opening ceremony, among them Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication Lütfi Elvan; General Director of State Airports Authority Orhan Birdal; TAV Airports Board Chairman Hamdi Akın; and TAV Airports CEO Sani Şener. Many MPs, bureaucrats and politicians were also present.
